I woke up to a bright light. Sitting in the back seat, my head fell because the door it leaned on was opened from the outside. I was caught by the back of my brand new sweater and lifted out of the car. Waking up I realized, my arms were cuffed behind my back and I was being escorted to the hospital entrance. I tried to remember if I had been injured in any way, but I felt fine.
My name is Julian Contreras and I graduated from High School in 2004. I was a strong student and graduated with academic honors to include, National Honor Society and Spanish NHS. I was Vice President of the Art Club, an active member of student council and also participated in football, track, and cross-country. My how time flies…

You’ve probably noticed lately that a lot of states have been banning text messaging while driving. Well, you can add another one to the list. North Carolina is the next state to ban texting while driving for all drivers.
The law went into effect December 1, 2009. In order to get a ticket, your car must be in motion while you are texting. For North Carolina the fatal crash rate for 16- to 19-year-olds has trended slightly upward.

In Colorado a new law will go into effect December 1 that will make texting while driving illegal for all drivers in the state. For all 16- and 17-year-olds, the law will also outlaw talking on the phone while driving.
The reason for the law is really a no-brainer – driver distractions are dangerous and can be deadly.
