New driving laws on the way for Teens in Texas

tx_seal_flagDriving laws have changed for teens in Texas and these changes will affect both how you get your license and how you drive once you have it. This year’s legislative session brought about many improvements to teen driving laws, including driver education.

Other changes to the law are:

  • The time that graduated driver license (GDL) restrictions apply will increase, from six months to 12.
  • The law also has reinstated the on-road driving test for people age 18 and younger (Until 1995 Texas required drivers to take an on-road driving test before a driver could get their license).

To read more about changes related to driver education check out “New laws will change the way you get your license.” Read the full text of the law [PDF] online.
